This module has helped me think about student-centered assessment in the following ways...

I think it is important to allow student to have input in the grading process. Grading especially on projects should not be cut and dry. Students should also be able to know what is expect of them ahead of time.

Since elementary Special Area teachers don't give "official" grades (we only grade on participation and conduct), it's hard to develope and implement such in-depth assessment tools.

I think it is good to let students grade themselves using a rubric.

I think it is good expirience for the students to grade themselves because they have a better understanding of what they missed or what they got right.

This module helped me to better faciliate the learning process that allow for student reflection. I like how students are able to see their progress from start to finish. Students can also determine what areas they can tweak with excitement.

I think it's reminded me to assist students as a facilitator as a strategy as oppossed to being an evaluator. This should allow the students to reflect and grow as a learner and a person at a much higher level.

I will be sleeping in for the next 5 Saturdays to make up for waking up for this class :) Overall I am glad I took this class as a refresher on PowerPoint. I have already made 3 PowerPoint's and shown them to the kids. They really enjoy them. Thanks for all your help.

The class was very intersting and educational. I have enjoyed class and learned much. My K students will enjoy making the presentations and grading themselves.

Students need to have differentiated forms of assessment and have choice in their product outcome. The more a teacher becomes facilitator of learning and student becomes responsible for learning, the more successful the learner will be. Rubrics allow the student to choose his or her level of participation.

It reiterated that rubrics can contain traits that identify objectives and performance levels that can be adjusted and created to assess multiple student projects while also meeting the varying needs of multiple learners (i.e. ESOL, ESE,gifted, etc.).
